ONE SIMPLE SPLINTER

Romans 16:13 (KJV)
“13 Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine.”
Jesus said “many are called, but few are chosen.” Evidently, Rufus walked in his election. He was a brother to Alexander and son to Simon a Cyrenian the man who carried the cross beam of Christ (Mark 15:21). Catch this, Paul addresses his mother as his own.
Wow, the apostle had a spiritual mom pouring the Via Dolorosa into him. I could picture him setting at the kitchen table with Rufus and Simon’s wife asking them to tell the story one more time. If all we have to offer is just one simple splinter from the cross Jesus died on, we have an election putting character into apostles.
