1 Peter 5:2-4 (KJV)
“2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.”
Not out of obligation, no self-seeking (filthy lucre) but with a willing and available ready mind. Simple as this, non-c...ontrolling, no manipulations by example are we to lead. We cannot box God’s love in and expect it to work for us. This is not to say His Love has no boundaries, it is to say we cannot control His love; His love enables us. Eating is more pleasurable when hate is not at the table.
Just because we tell someone something does not mean they understand it on the level it was told. Knowledge without understanding is dysfunctional. “Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite” (Psalm 147:5). Our God is able because there is nothing He does not understand.
Jesus (chief shepherd) is full of grace and truth. Grace precedes truth; grace enables us to know truth and to understand truth.
“And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding” (Jeremiah 3:15).
