Job 24:13 (KJV)
“They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.”
Jesus describes this activity as condemnation – “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God” (John 3:19-21).
Being truthful in how we see ourselves (not others, ourselves) is simply walking in the light; being truthful is doing truth. Recognizing our nasty and owning our nasty is the first step of light we take towards becoming the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. This is not being negative; this is being positive and constructive to relational truthfulness with God. Getting free, being free is when we know the truth by accepting the truth. This is not about light shining on others; it is how it shines on us and how we respond when it does.
