EXTRAVAVAGANT LOVE

2 Corinthians 10:5-6 (KJV)
“5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”
Obedience is not something we do for approval or favor; obedience is a manifestation of extravagant love, not fear of disapproval or failure. When acting in love one ...
cannot fail, because love never fails. This is the language Jesus describes as obedience: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you” (John 15:13-15).
Obedience in God (Jesus) language is how we describe deepest friendship. This is an obedience worth dying for, a relationship worth dying for. It is not an obedience to get favor; it is an obedience to give and show favor.
This knowledge of God is priceless and comes only by the friendship Jesus offers. This friendship is when we receive a knowing by Jesus making known to us the Father’s heart. This is when we understand the work Jesus is doing in us; as a result, obedience becomes an immediate response as appreciation and adoration. Being afraid is not in this equation; it becomes passion to give, passion to love.
