Ephesians 4:23-24 (KJV)
“23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
We are spirit beings living in a body and we are not as restricted as one may think we are. This being we are and the position it takes determines how we use our mind. “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober…” (1 Peter 1:13). Being sober simply means for us to be in control. Putting on the new man (Christ Jesus) and the renewing of our minds is no one’s responsibility but our own.
Our being will only become what we want it to become and when it comes to our being, all that we do flows from there; we will do what we are, for we cannot do what we are not. God has sent us His Word (both written and lived) to heal us and to deliver us from all our destructions. Consequently, His Word is the only transformative ingredient that can change our being; this is what we use to renew the spirit of our minds and is what we use to put on the new man. No matter how ugly we may be, everyone looks good wearing Jesus.
