1 Peter 3:8-9 (KJV)
“8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.”
One of the greatest ways to receive a blessing is to be one. This begins by being agreeable or to come into one mind with others. Pitiful in this scripture means to be sympathetic or tender hearted. We are to be courteous; when we do so, love is at work.
This simply boils down to having a mind to be a blessing having no intentions of evil but good. This is the disposition of our heavenly Father. Jeremiah 29:11 testifies to this, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
No matter how much opposition we may run into, this should be our disposition and position towards others as believers.
