GIFTED

James 1:12-18 ESV
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Th...
en desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.”
This really is a gift from God; the ability to say no to temptation, to say no to sin. It is not ironic that wisdom is mentioned in this process and that being gifted is also. In the Old Covenant when it came to having the skill and ability to work with silver and gold providing instruments to the tabernacle, it is said, God had given them wisdom.
Therefore, their wisdom was afforded to them by God which gave them the ability to work with gold and silver as craftsmen; this is being gifted by God through wisdom.
Jesus is the power of God and He is the wisdom of God (1Corinthians 1:24), He in us becomes our power or ability and He becomes our wisdom in doing and being. Learning how to submit to Jesus in our temptations is a skill (wisdom and ability) afforded to us by God. This makes our ability to say no to sin as being a gift from God.
No matter the temptation there are no variations or shadows due to change when it comes to Jesus in us; He is our power and He is our wisdom in every situation – we are gifted by the greatest gift – JESUS.
